The following recipe has been my favorite for awhile, though it goes against my short- recipe- policy. When pressed for time, I do the "throw-it-all-in-oven-at-once" version:)

String beans
1 lb fresh string beans, trimmed
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, finely diced
oil, to saute
1 Tablespoon dry wine
2 Tablspoon soy sauce
1/2 Tablespoon sugar
optional: slivered almonds

Steam string beans, to desired texture
Saute garlic and onion in oi, in a large fry pan (skillet)l ontil golden brown (and delicious smell in your house)
Throw string beans in fry pan for 5 minutes, stir gently
REmove and place in serving dish (oven safe preferable)
Mix together remaining ingredients and pour over string beans.
Allow to settle in, before serving
Optional: sprinkle almonds
