Winter is heading our way, and a nice warm, filling bowl of soup is the best way to end the day. This soup is great for lunch or dinner and it freezes well. I prefer to prepare a big pot in advance and freeze in smaller portions. Enjoy.

Cabbage Tomato Soup
2 1/2 quart water
28 ounces of stewed tomatoes
5 1/2 oz can tomato paste
8 oz tomato sauce
1 onion, sliced
1/2 head cabbage, sliced 
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Put all ingredients in an 8 qt part
Bring to a boil, cover
Simmer for 2 1/2 hours .

Note: Let cool completely before freezing.
